El Pionero
The TOPS Knives El Pionero, created by Ed Calderon, takes its inspiration from the humble kitchen paring knife. Here's the origin story: when traveling to self-defense training events, Ed would intentionally leave his knives at home and buy a replacement at his destination. And what did he choose? A basic $10 paring knife—proof that sometimes simpler and more affordable beats fancy and expensive. Ed found this modest blade performed excellently as a tactical tool, so he collaborated with TOPS to develop a permanent, high-quality version for dedicated fans. The El Pionero was born, honoring the original knife brand that sparked the idea. Carry this reliable USA-made fixed blade with both exceptional steel and an unforgettable story behind it.
